Introduction:
During my senior year of high school, I was required to complete a 160 hour internship at a manufacturing plant. For my internship, I work at Skilled Manufacturing Inc. where I completed various tasks. I started with very simple tasks, such as sorting and marking manufactured parts, but for the majority of my time there, I had to main jobs to do. The first was creating tablets for referencing parts being manufactured by using the solidworks system. The second was measuring manufactured parts for quality control.
The Academic Skills and Objectives That I Used Were:
- Test and evaluate the prototype and record results.
- Explain the rules that are associated with the application of dimensions to multiview drawings.
- Identify and dimension fillets, rounds, diameters, chamfers, holes, slots, and screw threads in orthographic projection drawings.
- Describe the purpose and demonstrate the application of section lines and cutting plane lines in a section view drawing.
- Explain the role of quality control in assembly and fabrication
- Measure with precision tools and instruments
- Explain the role of quality control in manufacturing
Justification:
I consider this internship to be a very valuable experience. I learned many things about manufacturing plants as well as communication in a professional environment. I feel that this has helped prepare me for any position that I might apply for in the future.
